Problem: Capital Die is a 3rd generation prototype shop in the heart of the Detroit industrial area. With a mix of old and new technology, they need an identity brochure that shows them in a progressive light with a highly skilled workforce. While, the cramped workshop is highly organized, to the camera it looks like utter chaos. The challenge is to create graphics that tell a story in a simple and direct manner.
Solution: Combine closely cropped action photography with bold colors and product inserts, along with the human element to emphasize that Capital has not only the tools, but the skill and knowledge to create specialized prototype parts. The solution is light on copy and heavy on imagery. The pocket flap is die cut in the shape of a wire cut prototype part with a computer screen in the background to emphasize the numerically controlled wire cutting capabilities.
